Mary Murray is an Irish film, television and stage actress, best known for The Magdalene Sisters, Love/Hate and Adam & Paul. She is also director of Visions Drama School in her native Dublin.

Mary most recently performed a one woman show written by Sheena Lambert and directed by Rex Ryan at Smock Alley to a sell out audience and extended run, based on the life of Cosima, the second wife of German composer Richard Wagner and daughter of composer and pianist Franz Liszt.

She will tour the country from 30 October to 30 November 2024 with Fishamble Theatre to reprise her role as Nell in Outrage for Fishamble Theatre Company, written by Deirdre Kinahan. Full details with dates and venues here: https://www.fishamble.com/outrage.html

Mary travelled to Germany in March 2023 with Fishamble Theatre Company to develop a new show by Deirdre Kinahan alongside Staattheatre Mainz based on the Palatines in Ireland.

Mary won ‘Best Actress’ at the BBC Audio Drama Awards 2023 for the role of Janet in The Pride of Parnell Street by Sebastian Barry. Directed by Jim Culleton of Fishamble Theatre Company and performed alongside Aidan Kelly.

Mary recently won Best Actress at the The Underground film Awards for her role in the short film A Christmas Matter which will air on RTE this Christmas 2024.

After a hugely successful run of Holy Mary by Eoin Colfer at 3Olympia Theatre and the National Opera House Wexford this year, Mary will return to Irish and Stateside audiences alongside Jacinta Sheerin for another run in 2025.

Mary played Janet in seasons 3, 4 and 5 of the hit TV Series Love/Hate for which she was nominated best leading actress and best supporting actress at the IFTAS.

​

Other notable productions include The Magdalene Sisters, Adam and Paul and Penny Dreadful.
